About me
Hi, I’m Suzy Nguyen – Soft yet strong, and sincere – like a Saskatchewan winter
At first, when you look at a Saskatchewan winter, you might see something soft and gentle. The snow is white and quiet, it covers everything almost like a blanket, and the landscape can feel peaceful and still. There is a softness to the way it looks and feels. I think I have something similar in my personality. I have a gentle appearance and a soft voice, and I tend to communicate with people in a calm and considerate way. I don’t naturally approach people in a forceful way. I prefer warmth, listening, and understanding.
But anyone who has experienced a Saskatchewan winter knows that underneath that softness is a tremendous amount of strength.
The snow may look delicate, but it can cover the entire landscape. The wind can be incredibly powerful, the temperatures can be extreme, and winter can last for months. Yet life continues. People still go to work, children still go to school, businesses still operate, and communities still come together. There is a quiet resilience to Saskatchewan winter.
That is something I really identify with. I may look and communicate softly, but I have a very strong will underneath. When I decide that something is important to me, I’m very determined. I’m willing to keep learning, keep working, and keep going even when something is difficult. I don’t necessarily express that strength loudly. It tends to show through my actions and the way I follow through.
And then there is the sincerity of Saskatchewan winter, which is perhaps the part of the metaphor I love the most.
Winter here doesn’t pretend to be something it isn’t. It is simply what it is—cold, quiet, beautiful, sometimes challenging, but also capable of creating its own kind of beauty. There is something very honest about that.
I try to bring that same sincerity into the way I live and work. When I care about someone, I genuinely care. When I give someone a gift, I think about the person and choose something with meaning rather than just giving something for the sake of giving. When I tell a friend I will help them, I really mean it. And when I commit myself to a job or a project, I put my heart and thought into it. I don’t like doing things just because I have to check a box. I want there to be genuine care behind what I do.
I also try to approach people with that same sincerity. I tend to look for the best in people. Even when someone has qualities that are difficult for me to understand, I try to believe there is a reason behind them and give them the benefit of the doubt. I naturally look for the positive side of a situation and ask myself, “What can we do with this? What good can come from it?”
So for me, Saskatchewan winter is not just about being cold or enduring difficult weather. It’s about the contrast. It can be soft on the surface but strong underneath; quiet but powerful; challenging but beautiful; and, above all, very genuine. And I think that’s how I would describe myself too: soft in the way I communicate, strong in the way I persevere, and sincere in the way I care and follow through.

My creative projects
10-minute short film “3 encounters” (CLICK HERE)
Background
To celebrate my wedding and preserve the story of our relationship, I created a short film that tells the story of how my husband and I met, gradually became part of each other’s lives, and eventually found our way to marriage.
Concept & Inspiration
After looking back on our relationship and connecting the different moments of our story, I realized there was a meaningful thread that connected our journey: we had crossed paths three times in three different places, completely by chance, before we ever intentionally pursued a relationship.
This inspired the central concept of the film—the idea that some encounters are not simply coincidences, but may be shaped by fate. I built the story around the romantic notion that “three encounters can be a sign of destiny”.
The film follows the three times my husband and I unknowingly crossed paths. Each encounter happened in a different place and at a different point in our lives, without either of us intentionally seeking the other. It was only on our third encounter that I decided to give him a chance. From that moment, our relationship began to grow into love, eventually leading us to marriage.
Cast
My husband and I played the male and female leads, portraying ourselves and the story of how our relationship began.
Production
The production crew consisted of only three people: my husband, one friend who assisted with filming, and myself. We handled the entire project independently from planning through post-production.
The filming for this project only takes 1 day.
My Roles
As with my previous music video project, I took on most of the creative and production responsibilities, including developing the concept, writing the script, planning the story, selecting locations, coordinating wardrobe and styling, makeup, props, video editing, and performing as the female lead.
Filming
My husband and our friend handled the filming, including all standard video footage. Unlike my previous project, this production did not involve drone footage.
Publication
As this was a deeply personal project created to celebrate our wedding and preserve our love story, I chose not to release the video publicly. I shared it privately with family and friends through my personal Facebook account.
Reception
The video received deeply emotional responses from my friends and family. Many commented that watching it brought them back to their own high school years and reminded them of the feelings, innocence, and excitement of young love.
Several friends described feeling moved and nostalgic while watching the story unfold—at times feeling touched and emotional, yet also happy for us. Their responses made the project even more meaningful to me, as it not only captured our personal love story but also brought back memories and emotions from a shared stage of life.
7-minute music video “When youth has passed” (CLICK HERE)
Background
In 2022, my husband and I left Vietnam and moved to Canada, leaving behind our family—my parents, three siblings, and our nieces and nephews. We are a very close-knit family and often gathered at the small family home surrounded by the green lawn and garden that my parents had lovingly built and cared for over the years.
Concept & Inspiration
To preserve the memories of our beloved home and capture the precious moments we shared as a family before our departure, I created a music video for a well-known Vietnamese song, *Youth Will Pass*. The song tells the story of a couple who dream of living a peaceful and happy life surrounded by nature. I used our family home and garden as the central setting of the music video, making the project a personal tribute to our home, our family, and the memories we shared there.
Cast
I played the female lead, while my husband played the male lead. My parents and two aunts also made cameo appearances.
Production
The project was produced entirely by my husband and me, with the assistance of one friend who helped with filming. The filming for this project only takes 1 day.
My Roles
I took on most of the creative and production responsibilities, including scriptwriting, location scouting and selection, wardrobe and styling, makeup, props, video editing, and performing as the lead actress.

My husband and our friend were responsible for filming, including both drone footage and standard video footage.
Publication
As this was a deeply personal family project, and I generally keep my personal life private, I chose not to release the music video publicly. I shared it privately with family and friends through my personal Facebook account as a way to preserve and share these memories with the people closest to us.
Reception
The music video was warmly received by my friends and family. Many of my friends especially enjoyed how well the song’s lyrics and music complemented the story, visuals, and overall atmosphere I created. They found that the combination of the music, lyrics, and imagery came together naturally and effectively conveyed the feeling and meaning behind the project.

Background
I am the author of *The Next Management Trainee Guidebook*, an approximately 800-page practical guide for first-job seekers and recent graduates navigating Management Trainee (MT) recruitment processes at multinational companies.
Having personally been a Management Trainee and worked at multinational companies, I wanted to turn my experience and knowledge into a practical resource for young graduates entering the workforce.
Concept & Inspiration
Rather than relying solely on conventional career frameworks, I built the book around real stories and experiences. I drew from my own recruitment journey, my professional network of people who had experience evaluating MT candidates, and stories from students I had personally spoken with or supported.
Through these stories, I shared practical lessons on what to do – and what to avoid – throughout different recruitment stages, as well as how to prepare before and after each round and where to find relevant opportunities and resources.
My Roles
I was the lead author and creator of the project, writing approximately 80% of the book and developing its overall concept and structure. I also invited 20+ former Management Trainees from different multinational companies** to contribute their experiences, which made up the remaining 20% of the book.
Publication
The book was distributed through university student communities, student-focused events organized by multinational companies, and social media channels. I estimate that approximately 20,000 students across Vietnam received access to the book.
Reception
The book was well received for being detailed, practical, and highly actionable without feeling overly prescriptive. Readers particularly appreciated the storytelling approach, which made recruitment concepts easier to understand, relatable, and applicable to their own experiences.
